To enhance its efforts, GCA then introduced a Self-Transaction
Exclusion Program (STEP), which offers problem gamblers
a method to block their own access to ATM, credit card
and point-of-sale (POS) debit card cash advances and
set daily limits at nearly 1,000 casinos around the
world. Patrons with limits or self-exclusion restrictions
are entered into our database and automatically limited
or restricted from getting cash from the ATM, kiosk
or cage. Our flexible system allows limits to be set
across the entire casino floor or at a particular machine.
GCA’s Responsible Gaming Partnership was initiated
in cooperation with the National Council on Problem
Gambling (NCPG). The effort also includes point-of-decision
messages, including the NCPG 24-hour, toll-free helpline,
which is displayed on highly visible decals and transaction
receipts at all GCA cash advance devices.
